Introduction

The health and social care sector is an essential aspect of society as it focuses on providing care and support to individuals who require assistance in their daily lives. As a professional in this field, it is important to continuously reflect on practice and evaluate one’s own knowledge, performance and understanding against relevant standards. This reflective account will use the Gibbs Reflective Cycle as a model to discuss a recent experience where a service user complained about the service provided by the team. It will also explore how feedback was used to evaluate own performance and inform development, as well as how the team worked together to review and prioritise learning needs and professional interests and agree on a personal development plan. Through this reflection, the aim is to improve the quality of the service provided to service users and ensure that they receive the best possible care.

Using Gibbs Reflective Cycle as my model, I will reflect on my practice as a professional in the health and social care sector to improve the quality of the service provided.

Description

Recently, a service user came to me with a complaint about the service provided by the team. They felt that their needs were not being met and that communication was poor. This was a difficult situation for me as it challenged my understanding of the service provided and my own performance. As the service user’s primary care provider, it was my responsibility to ensure that they received the best possible care.
