1.1. Explain the aims of health and social care provision

Health and social care provision is geared towards the promotion of the health, well-being, and independence of individuals who require medical or social assistance. This can be achieved by providing support for those in need of help with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, mobility assistance, and medication management, enabling them to remain independent within their homes (Adams et al., 2017). Health promotion initiatives are also aimed at encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyles that prevent ill health from occurring.

In addition, healthcare providers work towards keeping people healthy through early detection and prevention measures, such as screening programs designed to identify diseases before they become advanced enough to require acute intervention. Also, health and social care professionals provide access and quality care, aiming to improve the patient’s physical or mental state while alleviating symptoms associated with different pathologies (WHO Global Strategy on human resources for Health: Workforce 2030).

Healthcare delivery systems aspire to not only treatment but a comprehensive approach where preventive actions will always prevail over corrective interventions, promoting overall welfare, preventing illness occurrence, and thus decreasing costs caused due to hospitalisation expenses.
