1.1 Describe the duties and responsibilities of own work role
My work role is marked by several vital responsibilities that cater to personalised care and assistance for our residents. A fundamental aspect of my duties involves assessing the individual needs of each resident, which range from the physical to the emotional (Brooker & Latham, 2015). By conducting thorough evaluations and liaising with healthcare professionals, I create tailored care plans that address these unique requirements.
In the execution of these plans, I am actively engaged in administering medications correctly and safely as protocols demand (NMC, 2021). Additionally, ensuring the well-being of residents through monitoring their condition and communicating any significant changes to relevant parties remains a prevailing duty. As part of an integrated team approach, documenting all such observations meticulously within resident records is imperative for maintaining transparent communication lines with other care staff members (Care Quality Commission [CQC], 2019).
Beyond care supervision, my role extends to being an advocate for resident autonomy and dignity. This translates into offering respectful personal care while encouraging self-care capabilities wherever feasible (Brown Wilson & Davies, 2016). Furthermore, facilitating social interaction forms another crucial aspect; engaging residents in meaningful activities promotes mental health and quality of life (Killett et al., 2016).
The interplay between strategic task execution combined with compassionate interaction exemplifies my function as not just a caregiver but also as a basis for uplifting everyday experiences in our community.
